SIX STYLE HACKING TIPS TO LOOK LIKE A CELEB

Celebrity Style Hacking Tips on India Kishmish

It’s only the first week of January and we’ve already got some serious #styleinspo from our favourite celebs. They’ve been spotted in the hottest trends – leather skirts, colour-blocked dresses and embellished blouses. And the best part – we spill their style secrets.
Here are six lessons that we learnt from the stars that you should follow too.

Lesson #1: Flaunt your curves with a voluminous skirt
Pear-shaped girls, pay attention! Highlight your narrow midriff with a fitted, high-waisted skirt and pair it with an off shoulder blouse – Priyanka Chopra shows you a great way to wear the trend.
Lesson #2: Go for oversized monochrome checks
If you’re paying attention, you know plaid is back. Swap your block-coloured skater dress with a Tartan shift dress this winter. We love how Nicky Hilton keeps her look minimal by letting the print do all the talking. Pair your checks with boots and a casual sling bag.

Lesson #3: You can’t go wrong with pleats
Comme des Garçons and Givenchy showed us how to do pleats this season. Both flirty and feminine, the pleated skirt is the perfect choice for a work conference or a brunch case in point Gone Girl’s Rosamund Pike who wore it to Variety’s creative impact awards brunch. Try it in sorbet hues, paired with printed blouses.
Lesson #4: Leather skirts bring an edgy element to your casual look
How do you go from casual to chic? Switch your basic cotton skirt with a mini leather version. Whether it’s a coffee leather skirt or a fitted black alternative, this on-trend piece is fast becoming a wardrobe staple and is ideal for a chilly day. Take inspiration from Shraddha Kapoor and wear it with a sequinned blouse and knee length boots for a relaxed, yet fun night-out look.

Lesson #5: An embellished blouse doesn’t have to be dressy
Not sure about the trend? Don’t stress. There is a way to tone down the excessive shine and still sparkle. Let your textured blouse speak for itself by pairing it with neutral tones like black, white, beige or navy. Felicity Jones makes a statement with her floral applique top and a puffy A-line skirt.
Lesson #6: Add layers to your outfit by colour blocking
Is your outfit missing a pop of colour? Throw on a colour-blocked jacket over a dual-tone shift dress like Jacqueline Fernandez. The trick is to pick contrasting primary colours or shades of a solid colour – crimson with fuchsia, emerald with navy, peach with mint or even coral with cobalt.
